Welcome to cangoods vintage weekend, a blog dedicated to discovering and showcasing the beauty in vintage finds, antiques, and salvaged materials. Stop by each weekend for quick posts covering a range of topics related to buying, selling, collecting, and designing with older curiosities. DIY posts will offer simple steps and tips for giving second life to items some might throw out or donate.
A little about me (Can)… Well, my love for finding and collecting began as a kid at my grandmother's house where a Saturday's dig through her junk drawers could yield anything from a deck of cards to funky eye glasses from the 60s. While living in North Carolina, I found myself hitting up antique stores and flea markets for home accents with a little history. In 2012, I moved back to DC and bought my great-great aunt's house with more than 50 years of memories to clean out first. This was filled with joys (like finding a bible from 1884) and heartaches (like losing that bible) that made me want to preserve, share, and sell vintage goods.
I love finds from different eras and try to keep my shop (cangoodsvintage.etsy.com) stocked with fun, colorful goods ranging from globes to thrifted tees and jackets to pyrex bowls. I love collecting glass and metal flower frogs, office supplies that can be cleaned up easily and put to use, metal boxes, and glass jars.
Like one of my favorite tv characters Fred G. Sanford, I'm building my junk empire. cangoods vintage weekend is one piece of the vision for a company focused on stylish reuse and renewal, as well as responsible disposal, of old stuff. As I find, build and create, I will share updates and look forward to chatting with other junk and salvage lovers.
So with that, thanks for stopping by!
