Meet Our Future Pantry Door
It’s old. It’s dirty. It’s perfect!
I’ve mapped out my spring project list and first up is installing a pantry door. Truth be told, this project has been top of mind for a few years now. Our house reno, for some reason, left us without doors on the pantry, laundry space, and bedroom closets. The pantry’s saving grace has been organized shelves, but now that we have a curious toddler who likes pulling each and every spice jar out, it’s time.
So here’s the general plan: turn a salvaged door into a sliding pantry door (that baby can’t open and close).
A few weekends ago, my dad and I visited Community Forklift and found the perfect glass-front door. When the weather gets nicer, we will strip the old paint and repaint the wood in a bright color. The glass front will get cleaned up and adorned with cool gold-leaf lettering. As for the install, I’m in love with barn door hardware, but our pantry wall is shorter than most tracks allow for. My plan is to recreate the look and function using galvanized piping and casters.
My inspiration. Looking forward to bringing this to life.
